Great note. I am relatively new to the Internet marketing and even at this early stage of my IM endeavors I can see that the information overload can be a huge headache if one doesn\'t know how to go about it. Having a vision for what it is that one wants to create on the web is crucial but planning out every step of the way is just as important. It helps me to think in terms of one month ahead for what I would like to learn then action often becomes self-evident.

Tammy,
You're right, we really need to pay attention to the terms of these offers.

Suzanne,
It sounds like you've got a good plan. I'm glad you're enjoying my articles. I actually like writing them! And yes, I did work with Practice Pay Solutions and support the customers of their private label version of 1shoppingcart.com, so we may well have connected then. Good to hear from you.

I appreciated reading about Jimmy Brown's "persuaded continuity". I hadn't heard the name for it. This is what I am doing with my Million Dollar Life Membership Program. For those who purchased one of the upgrades for the free 12 call series, I am offering the opportunity to have two free months of the program, followed by 10 months of 1/2 price membership.

I have been so annoyed by the membership programs that are kind of "slid in" to you. I have done well at not keeping most programs longer than I care to, but it means marking my electronic calendar with the expiration dates. I wanted to offer something wonderful and wanted those who are interested to join because they really want to join.

I also decided to offer a forum to ALL the 1300 registrants to the program rather than limiting it to just those who purchased the upgrades. For those with upgrades, they will have several live call events each month: coaching call, information call, productivity workshop.

Thank you for your great articles!
Donna Gunter pointed me in your direction and I believe I remember you from practice pay solutions or 1 shopping cart???

Several times I have gotten caught up in forced continuity. It doesn't take much to get out of them, if you realize it in time, but it sure does limit the credibility as far as I am concerneed and hesitant about future offers. You really need to read the Terms of Agreement carefully especially on offers too goo to be true.

Julia,
Thanks for the tip on the other tool. It appears that you sell that tool, so I'm not surprised you favor it! That doesn't mean it's not worth taking a look at, though.

Good for you! I'm doing the same. I'm also using the "extra" time to create a new product. Stay tuned...

Thi is a very informative article. The company I work for, JCSI, specializes in recruiting and what you said about marketing applies to recruiting as well. A lot of our clients are slowing down due to economic fears. As a result, things are slowing down here. But rather than secretly celebrate the slow down, I am trying to think of creative ways that we can get the most out of this time. I already set up two speaking engagements for us and have started looking into blogging, so I was happy to see those suggestions mentioned in your article. Thanks,

Rachel,
Thanks for your comment! You're right that this could be dangerous if it's not done properly.

For blogs, the blog software will generally add your link to your name automatically, so you don't need or want to add a link in the comment itself.

Many forums will let you have a link in your signature, but not necessarily an affiliate link. The key for forums is to read their rules to see whether a link in your signature is allowed. If so, you're good. If not, you'll need to decide whether you want to post comments to this forum without being able to have a link.

I think everyones is doing this technique, just to have link on the certain topic that is related to the website that they are promoting, but I don't recommend the link attachment. Because sometimes if you give a relevant comment the owner still put you on spam:)
